Downloading terrain minecraft problem

21 Nov 2012 MInecraft gets stuck when "Downloading Terrain". Log In Fix Version/s: None I also have this problem and i have no mods or a texture pack.

I'm guessing this is an internet connection problem to say the least. If anything else, there is a lot of terrain to download, and your minecraft gives up before finishing. I really don't know what could be causing the problem apart of the mods, if that is causing the glitch. The problem is that this problem is so inconsistent that its hard to test. For example, the issue with players being nearby causing the downloading terrain issue is almost always consistent on my server, but if I delete player data and stats in the world folder it becomes a constant issue whether players are nearby or not. Ok, I just tried connecting with another computer and it hangs at "Logging in" every time. It could be just me hanging at "Downloading terrain" since I didn't verify with other users. So every user hangs at "Logging in", and I (running on the server machine) hang at "Downloading terrain". Edit: Yes, client and server are newest version. I assume the "Downloading terrain" glitch is because your internet connection is slow. When I have bad ping, I get stuck on that screen for a very long time. My advice is to find a world that has <20 players in it. Even with bad ping/connection, the loading time for these low player worlds takes about 15 seconds or less.
